 Tory MP John Gummer has called for the Financial Services Authority (FSA) to realise financial advisers are on the same side when it comes to initiatives like the retail distribution review (RDR), but also called the FSA’s treating customers fairly (TCF) initiative a ‘trick’, reports Citywire today.
Gummer, who is also chairman of the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (Aifa), said at last week’s Sesame Symposium that the danger of TCF is there is no middle ground, and advisers either have to accept it wholly or be accused of treating customers unfairly.
‘We do care about TCF, but you have to recognise that customers have a view of what that is, and it differs from one to another, as does our ability to deliver it from one customer to another.
